HERB GARDEN
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA
Our ambition for the KebunRamaun Garden was to create a worthy addition to the Prime Minister’s residence in the tradition of kitchen and herb gardens; a garden which combines function, beauty, and discovery. The team conceived a place where the gardens and outdoor spaces are integral to overall character and responsive to the interests and commitment of the residents. The design invites inquiry, celebrating and encouraging an understanding of the plant material, whether it is a new way of seeing common varieties or the rediscovery of those lost to generations over time.
The vision for the KebunRamuan Garden was inspired by Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah and her childhood recollections of her grandmother’s use of garden plants to cure her stomach aches and keep her healthy. Her memories and experiences initiated the vision for the garden as a source of health, knowledge, reflection and personal fulfillment.
